Select a Large Commercial Air Source Heat Pump Water Heater for the Project

Send us the project's actual hot water demand and operating conditions instead of choosing equipment from floor area, room count or nominal catalogue capacity alone. CASSKY will calculate the required heating capacity, storage volume, recovery time and unit configuration, then provide a project-specific selection proposal.

  • Heating capacity
  • Unit quantity
  • Storage volume
  • Recovery time

01

Provide the Daily Hot Water Demand

Tell us the building type, user or room count, operating schedule and estimated litres of hot water required each day. Include guest rooms, showers, kitchens, laundry, cleaning and any other connected hot water use.

02

Describe the Peak Demand Period

Provide the highest-use period, the expected hot water volume during that period and how quickly the system must recover. This allows us to coordinate heat pump capacity with storage instead of oversizing either part of the system.

03

Confirm Water and Climate Conditions

Send the project location, winter design temperature, cold-water inlet temperature and required storage or outlet temperature. We will check available heating output under the stated condition rather than relying only on nominal catalogue capacity.

04

Receive a Project Selection Proposal

CASSKY will recommend the large commercial air source heat pump model, unit quantity, preliminary tank volume and recovery strategy. The proposal can also address water flow, electrical requirements, staged operation, backup and redundancy where required.

Send These Project Inputs

  • Project location and winter design temperature
  • Application, occupancy and operating schedule
  • Daily demand plus the highest-use period
  • Cold-water inlet and required storage temperatures
  • Power supply and available plant-room or outdoor space

Expect These Selection Outputs

  • Recommended model, heating capacity and unit quantity
  • Capacity checked at the stated design condition
  • Preliminary tank volume and estimated recovery time
  • Required water flow, electrical input and connection data
  • Backup, staging and redundancy recommendation where required

Send us your project requirements. CASSKY will calculate the hot water load and return a selection proposal covering heating capacity, unit quantity, storage volume and the recommended system configuration.

How a Large Commercial Heat Pump Water Heater System Is Connected

This reference drawing shows how multiple commercial air source heat pump water heater units can connect to common supply and return headers. Pumps, water treatment, expansion control, filtration, sensors, system controls and an emergency heat source must be selected together to deliver the required hot water flow and operating reliability.

Swipe the diagram horizontally to view the component labels.

  • Parallel Heat Pump Units Multiple units can be staged to match changing demand and provide service redundancy.
  • Supply & Return Headers Common headers distribute heated water to project branches and collect the return flow.
  • Duty / Standby Pumps Parallel circulation pumps are selected from the required water flow and total system head.
  • Water & Circuit Protection Water softening, expansion control and dirt separation protect flow paths and components.
  • Controls & Emergency Heat The control cabinet coordinates units, pumps and sensors; backup duty is defined by the project.

Use this as a connection reference—not a final bill of materials. CASSKY will confirm unit quantity, design flow, pump head, pipe sizing, branch quantity, water-treatment requirements, storage requirement, backup capacity and control points from the project load and site conditions.

Built for Commercial Hot Water Demand

Each advantage is tied to a system decision: energy use, peak-load coverage, project scale and controls. Final performance still depends on ambient and water temperatures.

Air-to-Water Heating

Transfers heat from ambient air into the water circuit, reducing dependence on direct resistance heating during normal heat pump operation.

R32 & R290 Versions

Dedicated refrigerant configurations allow selection according to destination-market rules, model range and project requirements.

Storage Integration

Works with a correctly sized tank to separate heat production from short peaks and maintain usable hot water across changing demand.

Scalable Selection

Select unit capacity and quantity for the load. Where supported, staged multi-unit operation can address larger projects and redundancy.

Performance transparency: COP and output should be compared only at the same ambient, inlet-water and outlet-water test conditions. Request the model performance table before final selection.

Commercial Hot Water Applications

Application type helps define the demand profile, but it does not replace load calculation. Select the heat pump and tank from occupancy, usage schedule, peak draw and target temperature.

Hotel commercial heat pump water heater application

Hotels & Resorts

Account for occupancy, peak shower periods, housekeeping, kitchen and laundry loads, plus the required recovery window.

Hospital commercial hot water heat pump application

Hospitals & Care

Confirm hygiene-temperature strategy, peak load, backup capacity, redundancy and local healthcare requirements.

Commercial Heat Pump Water Heater FAQ

Five practical answers for project sizing, storage, system configuration and OEM sourcing.

How is the required heating capacity calculated?

Calculate the energy needed to raise the required water volume from inlet to storage temperature within the available recovery period. Then verify unit output at the project’s design ambient condition and include system losses and the agreed design margin.

How should the commercial hot water storage tank be sized?

Tank volume depends on the peak draw profile, available heat pump recovery, target storage temperature and acceptable reheating time. Provide hourly demand data where possible; daily consumption alone cannot define the tank.

Can several heat pump water heaters operate in one system?

Parallel units can be considered for higher capacity, staged operation or redundancy. Confirm the permitted unit quantity, sequencing logic and communication method for the selected controller before final design.

Can the system replace a gas boiler or electric water heater?

It may replace or reduce the duty of an existing heater when heat pump capacity, storage and backup strategy meet the target temperature and peak demand under winter design conditions. Retrofit projects also require checks of electrical capacity, plant space, pipework and controls.

What information is required for an OEM project?

Send the target market, R32 or R290 preference, capacity range, voltage and frequency, certification requirements, branding files, manual languages and estimated quantity. Available customization can then be confirmed by model.
