A Spa Is Not Just a Smaller Swimming Pool

Higher water temperature and concentrated use change both capacity selection and control priorities.

01

Smaller Water Volume

Lower stored energy, but faster temperature change when the cover opens.

02

Higher Setpoint

Capacity and COP must be checked at spa water temperature, not pool rating only.

03

Scheduled Use

Hotels and private users may require a defined ready-time before occupancy.

04

Cover-Off Loss

Evaporation can increase sharply when jets run and the spa is uncovered.

A unit selected from volume alone may maintain temperature but still recover too slowly before the next use period.

Plan the Heat-Up Time Before Guests Arrive

A useful selection must calculate the energy required between starting and target water temperatures within the available time.

  • Spa water volume
  • Starting and target temperature
  • Required ready-time
  • Ambient temperature and wind
  • Cover use and jet operation
1

Cold Start

Maximum temperature lift and highest load.

2

Rapid Heating

Full DC inverter system increases output.

3

Approaching Setpoint

Output reduces to limit overshoot.

4

Temperature Maintenance

Lower-speed operation replaces ongoing heat loss.

Designed for Spa-Side Installation

Keep intake and discharge clear, route condensate safely and avoid directing cold exhaust air toward spa users.

Spa Heat Pump FAQ

How quickly can the heat pump heat a spa?

Calculate from spa volume, starting and target temperatures, unit output at the actual conditions and simultaneous heat loss. No fixed degrees-per-hour claim applies to every project.

What is the maximum spa water temperature?

The preliminary series target is up to 40°C, but the final maximum and available capacity depend on model and ambient condition.

Can it work with the spa’s existing electric heater?

A hybrid arrangement may be considered for rapid cold starts or backup. Confirm hydraulic layout, interlocks and controller compatibility before installation.

Where should the spa heat pump be installed?

Provide open airflow, service clearance and condensate drainage. Keep cold exhaust and operating noise away from users and avoid enclosed spaces that recirculate discharged air.

What OEM options are available?

Send target market, capacity, refrigerant, voltage, certifications, cabinet colour, controller and app requirements, branding files and quantity.
